The La Plagne resort is located in the alpine valley of the Tarentaise in the Savoie region of France. Whilst it is usually associated with skiing, there are other activities that are attracting people to the region this year – namely, mountain biking during the summer months!
Due to its relatively new reputation as a mountain biking destination, La Plagne still has relatively low number of mountain bikers on the trails, which makes it an ideal destination due to less traffic, less queuing and fewer bumps in the track. Various lifts are open between July and September but not all, so it is worth checking your destination and the availability of the lifts to ensure you don’t get caught out! The lifts have been specially adapted to allow for bikes, enabling you to explore more of the beautiful surrounding countryside.
There are 145km of dedicated mountain biking trails in and around La Plagne, with 35 different routes including downhill, cross-country and single track. There is also a new track being built this summer which connects Aime La Plagne and La Plagne Centre. To make it more accessible for all riders, there is also a cable car which will get you there free of charge. La Plagne is an up and coming mountain biking destination and the addition of new tracks for both novices and beginners is ensuring that its popularity as a mountain biking destination is steadily growing.
For more experienced riders, transporting your mountain bike to La Plagne is a relatively easy process and will cost in the region of £20. If you would prefer to hire your mountain bike on arrival there are various options depending on your budget, the type of riding you will be undertaking and the terrain and angle of decent.
