Resort Tignes

Tignes Ski Resort

As one of Europe’s premier resorts and with an incredibly reliable snow record, the appeal of Tignes Ski Resort   is understandable.  With an altitude ranging from 2100 – 3488m, guaranteed snow conditions, a wide ski terrain, fast and efficient lift system, a long ski season, a glacier and a beautiful lake – what’s not to like.

The resort was largely developed in the 1960’s and it has to be said that the style of the buildings reflect this, however in recent years, considerable work has been carried out to markedly improve the overall look of this great resort.

Tignes ski resorts shares 300km of pistes with the neighbouring resort of Val d’Isere, an immense area linked together to form the infamous “Espace Killy” ski terrain, aptly named in honour of Jean Claude Killy – the triple Olympic French ski racer.

Given the size of the Espace Killy and the vast variety of pistes and slopes, the ski resort of Tignes has plenty to suit every skier and snowboarder, whatever your level. Nursery slopes for the kids, beginner and intermediate runs aplenty, superb off- piste action, and all kept in tip top condition by 821 snow cannons guaranteeing snow from November through to May.

Tignes Winter Activities

It’s not all about the skiing and boarding. Tignes Ski Resort has plenty more on offer on and off the mountain, and is host to the “BRITS” skiing and snowboarding competition annually.

At Tignes Le Lac you will find the Lagon Centre, a fabulous sports and wellness centre which has a spa, 25m swimming pool, a gym, kids play pool and baby swimming lessons, Turkish baths, hot tubs and sauna.  With your Espace Killy lift pass, you are entitled to one free entry, and it’s definitely worth a visit.

A free resort bus services runs from Tignes Les Boisses to Val Claret from early morning to midnight daily, and there is a 24hr free bus service between Val Claret and Le Lavachet, making access to all villages very straightforward.
