Peisey is at the bottom of a short ‘lobster pot’ ski lift taking our guests to Peisey-Vallandry, the home of the Vanoise Express – 200 person double decker cable car linking the resorts of Les Arcs & la Plagne placing Peisey-Vallandry at the hub of the Paradiski ski area totalling 425km of pistes.

When it was built in 2003 it was the biggest, longest & fastest cable car in the world, recently beaten by Kitzbuhel, crossing the valley in 4 minutes. Plenty of interest for advanced skiers – probably one of the best areas for off-piste skiing in Les Arcs! Local highlights, the hike-able La Grive – local knowledge required and stable conditions but some of the best lines in resort with numerous shaded couloirs and a SE facing open face. Almost unlimited lines of off-piste tree skiing with very few surprises all with easy returns to main lifts. In good snow conditions, signature descents of 1300m vertical (1650 with hike ) right down to the valley floor at 1100m right on the edge of the Vanoise National Park. Huge beginners area & tree lined reds and blues to the village which are ideal in flat light and protected from the weather

Peisey Ski Resort

The Peisey Ski resort is situated on the edge of the Vanoise National Park and is made up of five small settlements, which were often overlooked for their larger neighbour Les Arcs. Just over a decade ago saw the installation of the Vanoise Express double decker cable car at Peisey Vallandry which enabled the link between the two resorts of Les Arcs and La Plagne, and in doing so creating one of the largest ski areas in the world – Paradiski. Peisey Vallandry and its surrounding hamlets were by now firmly on the map for skiers and even more appealing to those wishing to be away from the hustle and bustle of the larger neighbouring resorts.

The Peisey-Vallandry resort consists of five small villages, namely Peisey, Vallandry, Nancroix, Plan Peisey and Landry situated between 700 to 1600m in altitude.  Of these five villages, Peisey and Vallandry are the main ski villages as they are linked directly with the Paradiski area.

Your ski and snowboarding choices are endless.  Head for the Les Arcs ski area and you will find some 200kms of mixed open and wooded runs, particularly good for intermediate and advanced skiers with a total of 106 runs and 54 lifts.  In addition to the skiing, there are great hiking and winter walking trails.   Over in La Plagne, the ski area has plenty of wide open and undemanding slopes, making this ideal beginner and intermediate skiing territory, and for those looking for a bit more of a challenge seek out the Bellecote mountain from where there are a number of challenging long off piste descents from its summit at 3417m.

Peisey Winter Activities

There are plentiful restaurants and bars to be enjoyed in all of the villages of Peisey-Vallandry, but if you are looking for livelier aprés ski and nightlife, then head up to Les Arcs 1800 where you will find a number of bars open till late with live music and DJ’s.

Chalet Locations

Our catered chalet Peisey is located in the heart of the village of Peisey at 1350m, and just a short walk to the nearest lift which transports you to Plan Peisey at 1600m and from where you can take the Vanoise cable car into La Plagne or cable car to Les Arcs. There is a free shuttle bus that runs from the village of Peisey to the Vanoise cable car in Plan Peisey throughout the day.
