La Plagne Ski Resort
Located on the edge of the Vanoise Park, the spectacular La Plagne ski resort has over 425kms of piste across a ranging altitude of 1250 – 3250m. In 2003 the largest and fastest cable car in the world opened and linked La Plagne to Les Arcs Ski Resort creating a vast ski paradise, aptly named “Paradiski”.
The local ski area is made up of wide open and undemanding slopes, making this ideal beginner and intermediate skiing territory. Directly above this area is the Bellecote mountain, and from here there are plenty of challenging long off piste descents from the summit at 3417m. Add in the cable car link to Les Arcs, and yet another huge valley is opened up making this ski resort one of the finest for a vast and varied terrain.
La Plagne is home to one of the only bobsleigh and luge tracks which were built in 1992 for the winter Olympics held in Albertville.
La Plagne Winter Activities
It’s not all about the skiing and boarding. La Plagne Ski Resort has plenty more on offer on and off the mountain.
Some of our favourite Winter Activities in this great resort are:
- Husky Sledding – a really fun activity if you are holidaying as a family.
- Ice Climbing- Standing at a height of 22m is the man made ice climbing wall. Challenging but fun nonetheless.
- Snow-mobiling – a great way of seeing the mountains from a different angle during the day or at night.
- Olympic Bobsleigh run – an exhilarating experience of 19 bends and 1500m of thrills – although not so for everyone!
- Swimming pool and spa – located in Plagne Centre and includes outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi.
